4X4 is back again in 2018!
Despite the closure of Fortune Theatre earlier this month, the team behind 4X4 have been working with this talented group of writers to present two nights of rehearsed readings this weekend. Featuring new works by Feby Idrus, Kerry Lane, Shannon van Rooijen and Ruth Carraway and directed by Alison Embleton and Mac Veitch, this is your chance to see some of the best new writing Dunedin has to offer.
Now in its 7th year, the 4X4 programme was started by Lara Macgregor during her tenure at Fortune Theatre then carried forward by Jonathon Hendry. Each year 4 playwrights are given 10 weeks mentorship with a professional playwright to develop a new 15-minute piece for professional production. The 2018 mentor is Dunedin-based playwright Emily Duncan, who joins an illustrious group of mentors including Simon O'Connor and Victor Roger.
This programme, which carries no cost for the writers, was made possible by Creative New Zealand funding via Fortune Theatre until May 1st this year. If you would like to make a donation towards covering remaining cost for the programme, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Jordan Dickson at firstname.lastname@example.org
