French Canadian powerhouse trio Vishtèn are making their first visit to New Zealand, bringing their upbeat infusion of traditional songs, built on a bedrock of driving foot percussion, fiddle, piano, step dance, and accordion.
The group is a leading exponent of Acadian music, which is the ancestor of today’s Cajun music and is centered in the French-Canadian regions of New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. “They’re one of the few groups in the world playing Acadian music, and they’re absolutely the best.” – Trad Connect.
Vishten “magnificently blends Celtic and French influences with Canada’s equivalent of Cajun music” – Living Tradition.
Winner of 4 Canadian East Coast Music Awards, including “Roots/Traditional Group Recording of the Year” (2016)
