Have a go at these activities over the school holidays and Conservation Week and be in to win some great prizes.
We Kiwis love our backyard. Whether it's in our own gardens and parks or our big Kiwi backyard, we’re blessed with opportunities.
Conservation Week is a great time to connect with Our Place: Our Nature, and show our backyard some love.
Here are 20 activities to give you some ideas on how to protect, nurture and play in our kiwi backyard this Conservation Week and over the school holidays. Give one a go (or try combining a few), then tell us what you’ve done and go into a draw for some great conservation-related prizes!
You can download the activity sheet and entry form at the link provided here or drop into the Nelson Visitor Centre, Nelson Elma Turner Library, Stoke or Richmond library, to collect a copy.
Once you have given some of the activities a go you can tell us what you have been up to by either:
- Emailing the entry form to us at firstname.lastname@example.org putting ‘Conservation Week’ in the subject line.
- Bring your entry form and come and see the DOC team at the ‘Our Place Our Nature’ family event at Branford Park, Maitai Valley on Saturday 28th October.
- Drop your entry form into the Nelson Visitor Centre.
Photos are welcome – either attach them to your email, drop them in with your entry form or post them on your Facebook or another social media site and send us the link. Make sure they are visible to everyone, not just your friends, and please tell us if you’re happy for us to use/share them.
All entries will go into a draw for some great conservation-related prizes, which will be drawn on the 3 November. We will notify the winners via email/ phone.
