Take the children on a free urban nature adventure these holidays!
Visit anytime between dawn and dusk every day until the 26th of January 2018.
Kaia the Kākā is a free, immersive ‘on-foot’ adventure in Central Park, Wellington. It’s a fusion of technology, nature, creativity, and strategy exploring new ways for young people to become innovative thinkers and engage with the idea of a nature-rich world and some of our critical conservation challenges.
Using a smartphone and Facebook messenger, players can help Kaia - a virtual Kākā - who’s looking to set up her nest in Central Park. Players interact with Kaia, taking photos through the app and answering special challenges to rescue her from advancing predators.
The Kaia the Kākā web app is aligned with the Predator Free NZ initiative. It is a collaboration between Nature Through Arts Collective, Enspiral (digital entrepreneurs), artists Kemi Niko & Co and Lift Education. Funders include the NZ National Commission for UNESCO, Wellington City Council, and Wellington Community Trust.
