The overwhelming support and positive feedback from festival goers at this year’s inaugural Summerfest has meant that the event will be back on Saturday, 2 February 2013. With headline acts including I Am Giant, Titanium, and J Williams, the 2013 event looks sure to be as stunning and successful as this year’s festival.
‘Summerfest has certainly got the big tick to become an annual feature on Tauranga’s events’ calendar”, says Tracey Rudduck-Gudsell, CEO of Creative Tauranga. “It was a first for our performing arts’ community to have this opportunity to showcase their combined talent to a home crowd. All of the artists were local Bay of Plenty acts performing their own original music, with the headliners having a local connection and providing a glimpse of what our local artists can achieve on the national and international stage. Summerfest is all about supporting the development of our region’s performing arts’ creative talent. It provides an ideal forum for up-and-coming artists to gain greater exposure to a local audience, and wider” commented Ms Rudduck-Gudsell.
With over 11,000 people turning out for the inaugural event, 2013 will see a capacity crowd of 15,000 - so you will need to get in quick and secure your tickets! “We are moving to one huge stage for the next event and it’s a mix of the same as this year with non-stop sounds all day, and ‘cool vibes’. From Hip hop, R‘n’B, rock, alternative, pop, folk and urban dance – Summerfest will again serve up something for everyone. The variety in the line-up of local talent is totally impressive with individual artists, bands, cultural performances and dance crews taking to the stage for this extravaganza.
Some local acts to the stage will be:
Aaron Saxon and Alice Ecila
Packing Heat Battle of the Bands
Packing Heat Dance Battle
Urban Dance Crew
plus many more local talents......
