Camping: Extensive camping in the 200 acre site of Canaan Downs means there’s plenty of space for friends and family to park up together, and quiet places too. 2000 ft atop Takaka hill, the rolling grassland surrounded by native beech forest and limestone outcrops is an enchanting environment, and a haven for Hobbit fans. Bring bikes to explore the fabulous landscape.
Timing: Inspired by the ancient seasonal festival of Lughnasadgh, Luminate is midway between the summer solstice and autumn equinox, when our ancestors would give thanks to the earth mother for the abundance of the harvest, and join together from far and wide to share inspiration, learning and celebration.
Luminate connects the ancient traditions with the present, and invites us to activate earth-friendly, co-creative, resilient communities worldwide.
