A big welcome for the return of saxophonist Jacám Manricks and his New York Trio to CJC who will be soaring up and out into the friendly skies of "Cloud Nine", his latest work and recording. Manricks is being recognised as one of the most qualified musical artists in the world today - his work has been praised by the New York Times, Time Out - NY, Jazz Times and Downbeat - and he presents a programme of brilliant original compositions performed by an amazing group of players.
Manricks holds a doctorate in jazz composition and performance from the Manhattan School of Music, and has performed with some of the biggest names in jazz including greats such as Ray Charles, Jeff 'Tain' Watts, Ari Hoenig, AaronGoldberg, Dave Liebman, Adam Rogers, Matt Wilson, Tyshawn Sorey to name a few.
He continues to tour as a featured soloist, composer/arranger and clinician throughout Europe, North America and his native Australia. His jazz records have received the praise of critics around the world from every major publication, and Manricks himself has grown into a leading voice for today’s younger generation of saxophone players.
